Thanks for this, very interesting. Especially the sea freezing at Herne

Bay
- complete with the quote: "The atmosphere here was more frigid than the

MCC
dressing room after the 3rd Test" !

Ah, yes. England one up in the series after the 2nd Test. The third, played
at
Sydney between 11th and 15th January 1963 went to Australia after only
three and a half days play. After conceding a lead of 40 runs on first
innings,
England collapsed badly to 104 all out in their second innings. I can well
imagine the dressing room atmosphere that day. Pathe had it wrong,
though; in those days the touring side was certainly known as MCC in
all matches against the states and lesser sides, but they were England in
the Tests.

England 1st Inn 279 (Cowdrey 85)
Australia 1st Inn 319 (Simpson 91, Shepherd 71*, Titmus 7-97)
England 2nd Inn 104 (Davidson 5-25)
Australia 2nd Inn 67-2
Australia won by 8 wickets.
