Horizon Reminder

Lets face it, with
10,000 deaths in France this summer and 4,000 in India earlier,
global warming has more casualties to its name than Iraq already.
Mortality rates are higher in winter. The reduction in these rates
brought about by a warmer climate more than offsets the increase in
mortality
due to a hot summer. And you cannot be serious in suggesting that none of
the
deaths referred to would have occurred in the absence of global warming.
Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey.
The deaths in France were calculated by taking the normal death toll during a
French summer and subtracting that from this year's summer death toll.
If you are saying that they would have died the following winter anyway, I can
only agree that they would have died later. We are all mortal!
But probably a more important truism is that we do not have a guarantee which
states that if this world is not suitable for the purpose to which we put it,
we can take it back and get another.
Cheers, Alastair.
