By the time I started going to York from Birmingham in 1962, the Deltic
Diesels had taken over from the A4s, but I have a vague memory of seeing
the Mallard then. My photo though is from the late 1970s or early 80s, at
the museum.

Currently only +4.7C here with the remnants of last night's inversion
almost gone.

Heading for another sub-zero night here (East Fife), I think. At 3pm
spots that hadn't got any sun still had the white of last night's frost
and the pavement outside the house was slippery at 1pm.
