Default Rain in Reading-Maidenhead area

Any ground truth for this pocket of heavy rain?

Philip,

I cannot confirm that intensity (32mm) here in Reading. Rain was
heavy with fairly big drops of convective origin (some sort of line
convection perhaps?) but not that torrential. Around this time a
friend of mine thinks she saw some partially melted snowflakes in the
windscreen of her car so the `brightband effect` comes to my mind. I
will let you know if the University instruments recorded anything more
interesting.
