Hi all,

I was asleep at home in Lower Earley, S Reading as I'm doing nights at
the moment, but was woken a couple of times during the day, around
this time, by the rain hammering against the east-facing bedroom
window. As the wind was fairly light, it must have been heavy to make
a loud enough racket to arouse me from my slumber!! The River Loddon,
a frequent "flooder" during wet spells was looking rather full as I
drove into work, but as it was dark, I couldn't tell properly! The
Moat House hotel at Sindlesham (an apt name) may see its carpark
flooded soon...several times in the last few years, I've seen the tops
of cars poking out of floodwater in the carpark, and the guests being
rowed to and from the door in a boat!

I was away from Wokingham during the relevant period, but there was heavy
rain and some very black looking sky when I returned at 1430. I will let you
know if there was anything spectacular here for those times when I analyse
the autographic rain recorder chart tomorrow AM.

I notice there was a marked discontinuity in the display at about
53.5 degN for several hours suggesting calibration difficulties.
