words, but those of the French authorities who are calling this a
natural catastrophe.
Hi Iris,
Just out of interest, when did Meteo France flag up this situation?
I
mentioned in a post on the 30th Nov about the potential of some very
serious
rainfall in SE France/NW Italy but it wasn't picked up on here at
all.
"Also watching model developments indicating a convergence zone
combined
with
a cold pool of upper air over SE France/N Italy which could give
some REAL
problems in the next few days."
Granted, there is very little one can do with regards to flooding,
but the
GFS showed this situation developing last week, hope the affected
residents
were provided with ample warning.
Cheers

Hi Andrew,
As far as I can see, this was first forecast last Saturday, 29th
November. I've checked it out with French friends too and they are
sure that was when the first warnings were issued. I am a long way
from it, but it must be terrible - violent winds, torrential rain and
thunderstorms altogether.
