Well I used my sledge to good effect last year and it is all ready to go
*when*
the snow hits this winter !
I suppose it's a rare winter which doesn't produce snow somewhere in the UK.
Victor
Indeed, but I'm working on the average conditions for my area with a minimum
altitude of 300m asl and a maximum altitude of 470m derived using Met Office
climatological 1961-90 data (rounded down to complete days) which show for
Nov average days sleet/snow falling = 3, snow lying = 0
Dec average days sleet/snow falling = 6, snow lying = 1
Jan average days sleet/snow falling = 9, snow lying = 4
Feb average days sleet/snow falling = 10, snow lying = 3
Mar average days sleet/snow falling = 9, snow lying = 2
Apr average days sleet/snow falling = 4, snow lying = 0
So on average 38 more wintry days and 10 with snow on the ground ahead !
Mind you, I have yet to calculate more up to date stats which quite possibly
could show a decrease.
Cheers,
Will.
