We've got a front moving in and these are the advance Scouts. Temp
outside is for jim a balmy 28F. For those interested in Astronomy below
the Moon is the "Teapot" aka Sagittarius.

Ok, it's Salt in an open wound but I'd guess you'd also enjoy seeing
Omega Centauri and Centaurus A .................

Yep. It'd be to the Right of the Moon just about where the two tree
branches cross.
I've been an Amateur Astronomer for, well quite a while. My largest
Telescope is an 18" (.4572 meter) F 5.5 Dob mounted Reflector. Part of the
reason we live where we do is the Dark Skies.

My scope is a 11cm (4 1/2 inch?) Newton on a fragile equatorial mount and
ditto tripod, very cheap thingy, own it for appr. 30 years.
Did a lot of viewing back then, now we live in a much more lightpoluted
area. Also the mirror lost most of it's aluminium, I think.

Ever considered to mount your camera on the Dob? Should deliver great shots
with tracking.

Well I have an 8" Newt (former Dob) which shares (one or the other) a goto
mount with an 80mm apo all to look at never ending winter CLOUDS (or haze
lit up by the ski hill)!!!!! 8-(

Well Jim, maybe someday if you're lost in S.E Arizona around March or
AprilI just might be able to haul out a Scope or my 100mm APO Binos and let
you get your fill ;-).

If you were to remount it onto a "Dob" style Mount you could toss it into
a Car and get to a darker location for viewing. There's no need for a
nontracking Scope to be mounted on an equatorial mount for visual use.

If I wanted to take the time, I have the equipment to do Astro Imaging.
I just enjoy visual.
