Iridescent cloud [1/1]

: I took this sunset because the higher clouds had pink-and-green iridescence. I even took a close-up of it. I never got round to trying to find out what caused it. Great catch.. seen them, just never had a camera with me at the time. "High-Level Clouds High-level clouds form above 20,000 feet (6,000 meters) and since the temperatures are so cold at such high elevations, these clouds are primarily composed of ice crystals. High-level clouds are typically thin and white in appearance, but can appear in a magnificent array of colors when the sun is low on the horizon." The few remaining spammers crosspost to dozens of groups, how much trouble is it to send to two? No trouble at all. I have been cautioous with weather or sky pictures because postings to this group quite often have somewhat technical descriptions of what is on view. But lots of them are just sunsets or thunderstorms or streets with snow, overflowing rivers - all the stuff you'd expect in "weather". -- Sue ]:(:) |

I lived in New Jersey for a while a good many moons ago. I experienced some extreme weather but at least the forecasters could see it coming over the land and usually got it right. Too long ago to put my slides of the some of the effects here! Thanks for your encouragement. Guy Gorton |
