Sorry if your grasp of history yielded the short straw.
All the "50 Destroyers" episode proves is: 1) Due to its own incompetence and spineless policy of appeasement, Britain found itself in a predicament from which it couldn't extract itself. 2) True to the British "we know better than you Yanks" maxim, the Royal Navy refused to follow directions on how to handle these ships in wartime conditions. 3) Churchill sucked as a negotiator 4) Thanks to this deal, I now have two very nice vacation homes in the Caribbean. It's just like you Brits to obsess and fume over the past and those things about which you can do naught, though, isn't it? You should be more congenial to your saviors. We're the only reason German isn't your native language right now.
