Default Oregon v. LaCrosse

I want to buy, as a gift, a wireless weather staiton for a friend. Who do
you rate WRT quality, reliability, specification? Any help greatly
appreciated. Any other brands to consider with a budget of $400ish?

I have a LaCrosse weather station and a Davis Instruments Vantage Pro.

I had many problems with the LaCrosse station. The humidity reading
will not go below 20% (which is most of the time where I am), the wind
reading did not update often enough to be useful, but the anemometer
broke within a couple of months so now I have no reading. I also had to
send back some part of it for replacement right away (I think it was a
faulty
humidity sensor). I will not buy anything from LaCrosse again.

With the Davis station, I have none of these problems, have a number of
additional options on the console display, and download and track weather
data on my PC. It's a much superior product, but of course costs more.
Everything I have from Oregon Scientific has been of good quality too.

I have had a LaCrosse 2310 for about 2 months now and I am pretty happy with
it for under $200

I am also very happy with my 2310. It has been in continuous
operation for a year now with no problems or glitches. I use it with
Weather Display for tracking and uploading to my weather page.
