A New Lightning Network (Finally!)
 

A new lightning detection network has finally sprung up. The USPLN
(U.S. Precision Lightning Network), by WDT & TOA, is now active for
the Southeast, with the rest of the country coming soon. Since
historically we have had to survive on 30 minute old national imagery
from the current monopoly, I can't believe that this competition won't
be great news. Hopefully we will see regional, state or even local
lightning data services, for free and subscription, appear from this
company, their future partners, and even their competition as the year
moves on.

Their website says: "The USPLN will provide real-time and archive
lightning strike information, as well as serve as the basis for
value-added lightning services to its customers."
