Default Radio Shack WX 200 anemometer problem

I've seen the WX 200 mentioned in posts on this group in the past so
hope that someone is still using this weather station and can give me
some help with this problem.

For the most part, the weather station has worked fine but
occasionally the anemometer stops spinning even though there is a good
breeze. The last time this happened, I examined the device and tried
to spin it manually. It seemed to be dragging internally. I sprayed
some WD 40 into the bearing as best I could and spun it a number of
times until it seemed to loosen up. Now, this morning, it seems to be
bound again; not turning even though it is quite breezy.

Did anyone who has or had this weather station experience this
problem? If so, what is a longer term solution? Can you take the
anemometer apart to clean it without damaging it?

Please reply to my e-mail address as I don't normally read this NG

TIA, Robert
