Default Radio Shack Wireless Weather Forecaster - Opinions?

Hi all,

I just purchased a Radio Shack # 63-1085 "Wireless Weather Forecaster"
that's on sale right now for $80 regular $100. The unit picks up a radio
paging signal with info from AccuWeather.com and displays a simple 5 day
forecast that's updated every 15 minutes.

Here's a link to the unit:

I'm a bit disappointed since the ad states you receive forecast data for
your specific zip code, however, you really must pay $6.95 per month for
this "premium" service according to the manual. The "free" service includes
forecast data for 5 specific cities within your region. I live in southern
Missouri and it seems the data provided for this region is for Bismarck ND,
Green Bay WI, Duluth MN, Springfield IL, and Jefferson City MO. None of that
data is of much use to me. Even Jefferson City is well over 200 miles away.

Also, the provider's website http://www.myambient.com seems pathetic and not
much help.

Anyone else have this unit and could share their experiences? Thanks.

ND

Can't you just get an RSS feed from some weather site?

What about a default browser page for your zip code?

I can do all that for free.

I do too, but I'm a bit of a radio and wireless "geek". Thought it would be
neat to have on the nightstand.

Anyway, I returned it today. I'm definitely not paying extra for something
they advertise as being included in the purchase.
