I have used the WX200 for over 12 years. It has taken a beating. Has
been stolen. Has been hit by lightning. And has been ripped from its moorings during a hurricane. Now its nearing its last legs on reliability. The temps and humidity readings sometimes go "blink", and the weather vane no longer reads wind direction. Any suggestions on a home station? Thats roughly between $250 - $500 dollar range? Cheers... The 15 sec windspeed sample might be a downside... as we get hurricane speed gusts up here where I live during 'canes and nor'easters. I really don't care for the connectivity as they don't seem to have any software that supports Mac... same thing as the WX200. Can you get the basic model 'without' the software? Curious. Coffee in The Eye When I got mine the software was an option at extra cost which I've never bought. There's a DB9 socket on the display unit if I ever do. One issue I had was when mounted on the same pole as one of my HF antennas, there would occasionally be an RF overload causing the microprocessor in the anemometer to have to be reset, all solved by relocating it to another pole. How does your weather station hold up in harsh weather like snow, sleet, and ice? |

I wouldn't know, I'm in San Diego ;-) Neither would I. I am up here in Canada where "globe-el nino warming" making a mockery of Old Man Wynter. Coffee in Neu Schotland |
