I live in the Ohio Valley, it's become quite apparent that the NOAA is
unable to forcast winter weather here. For about the 6th or 7th time in a row last night, dating back to December 2004, they totally botched a forcast, something that any weather buff probably could have picked up on. You have a large, powerful storm system that's forcast to move well to the northwest of where you live. If temperatures prior to the arrival of the storm are well above the freezing mark, the chance of receiving any snow or even ice out of that storm is about 5 percent, at best. Yet, they issue a Snow Advisory for Saterday night and Sunday morning with temps not expected to drop to the freezing level until 5 or 6 am, for 2-4 inches of snow. We didn't get one flake on snow, instead, we received about 10 minutes of sleet and then, rain. The temperature never did get below freezing and if it had, we still wouldn't have received snow. Why do I have a problem with this? Because the city rushes out and dumps thousands of tons of chemcials on the road which not only ruins the roads, but costs us money. It happens over and over again! Then, these buffoons issue a Winter Weather Advisory late this afternoon for freezing drizzle tonight but wait, there's one problem, the temperature is going in the wrong direction. Oops, more chemicals and **** are dumped on the road. It's now 10:20 pm, they have cancelled the advisory because they've ascertained that it's just not going to be cold enough! It's 42 degrees with overcast skies, not likely that the temp will drop more than 4 or 5 degrees. Is it just me or are these guys smoking too much marijuana during their free time, which must be abundant this time of year. The general rule of thumb is that if you live in the middle of the country, or further south and a low pressure system passes well to your north or northwest, you'll be on the warm side of the storm. I wonder where these clowns went to school or if they even went to school. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |

I am going to assume you mean winter time forecasts which means in 180 winter forecasts the NWS botched 7 forecasts. 7/180 that's not bad. Your statement is pure bunk! It is not uncommon for temperatures to be in the 40's and have snow falling. Try living along the Great Lakes or in Iliinois or Indiana Yet, they issue a Snow Advisory for Saterday night and Sunday morning with temps not expected to drop to the freezing level until 5 or 6 am, for 2-4 inches of snow. We didn't get one flake on snow, instead, we received about 10 minutes of sleet and then, rain. The temperature never did get below freezing and if it had, we still wouldn't have received snow. Note the word "Advisory", which of course means they are warning you that the possibility exists. I wonder how far north of you they did get snow? 50 miles 100 miles. SInce the storm track can change that much over a few hours I wouldn't be surprised Why do I have a problem with this? You are simply shooting your mouth off with any knowledge at all. ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==----http://www.newsfeeds.comThe #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =---- |
