30th August to 7th September 2008: 19:58 this is a new moon.
http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/phase/phase2001gmt.html

So now we start looking at the various previews of the next spell?
This is a lot of work for a lazy man. And involves convolutions I am
not capable of keeping in my head, simple as they may appear to othr
people.

30th August 19:58. This is a new moon but first let me point out that
there are only 3 other times in the following phases that are close,
chronologically and only one which is close as regards the declination
of the sun.

The nearest phase; the 8th of August to the coming phase differs
declinationally from it by 3 weeks. That is, 16 degrees north on the
8th, as opposed to 9 degrees N. on the 30th, for the next spell.

I doubt there is much matching in the lunar declination. And I don't
intend to look just yet. Nor for that matter will I look at the
relative apsides.

I can only warn people to look I can not tell them to see.

Some stuff learned:
Hanna is still going. It's heading for Britain -which, incidentally,
got some 3" of rain in places last night. Hardly Floridan but a lot
for us.

This is the remnants of Hanna:

Only a matter of opinion of course but the idea of newsgroups was to
post ideas and get helpful input. I doubt that notice-boards for
science groups in universities would welcome some of your replies as
input, Dullskie.

But I am not your keeper. You must do as you sthink/ssee fit.

Well that's about that for this spell.

Now for the repeat.

So posting a list of earthquakes from the USGS makes you
on topic?

Gustav by name and nature is some 140 mph wind speeds that is a cat 4:
Category Four Hurricane: 114-135 knots;
131-155 mph, or 210-249 km/hr.

I wonder if they will tell the prezidunce?

Over in the North Atlantic there is a Siberian Low that I am not too
sure where it came from. There is a High between the N Atlantic one
and it. Damn, what a day to be giving up LSD.

They doing that day late and a dollar short thing Texas style?

Three years late and three categories short?

The program for the first day of the Republican National Convention
has been canceled in the wake of Hurricane Gustav, the first dramatic
change as planners scrambled to cope with political and practical
implications of the mammoth storm.

Headliners President Bush and Vice President Cheney both called off
appearances scheduled for Monday in St. Paul, Minn. Ohio Rep. John
Boehner, the House minority leader and chairman of the convention,
said the legally required business, including approval of the rules
and the platform, would take place but "there would not be much beyond
that."

5.7 M. 31st @ 08:31.SICHUAN-YUNNAN BORDER REGION, CHINA

What a year for re-runs. I tell you!

BTW that last one indicates an increase in present storm windspeeds.
That is unless it is followed by another Chinese quake as the next
one,
in which case...
..it still does
but also a sudden drop.

That would be interesting.

Half a million people in the Indian state of Bihar remain stranded in
villages which have been devastated by massive flooding, officials
say.

A BBC correspondent reports chaotic scenes as soldiers try to reach
those cut off and people attempt to scramble from rooftops into rescue
boats.

With 1.2 million people homeless, India is struggling to cope with the
crisis.

The flood waters are spreading to new areas, and conditions in relief
camps are overcrowded and unsanitary.

The floods are known to have killed at least 75 people in Bihar but
the death toll could climb once the situation in remote areas
emerges.

More news from the same site:

An earthquake in south-western China has killed 22 people and injured
more than 100, state media says.

The 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck at 1630 local time (0730 GMT),
close to the town of Panzhihua in Sichuan province, near the border
with Yunnan.

Xinhua news agency reported that attempts to assist survivors were
being hampered by heavy rain.

Both provinces were severely affected by a devastating earthquake in
May which left almost 70,000 people dead.

I went there looking for Chinese weather charts. Stupid I know; to say
the site is a crap fest is to invite their security to get on my back
once more. And issuing death threats to certain stupid BBC officials
is a dangerous sport these days.

Pity.
