Does anyone know of a good source for short term (24-36) surface wind

I googled "new england" "surface winds" prediction and came up with some interesting links but nothing that really applied. Usually when I look for weather prediction I look at the NCEP models: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwprod/analysis/ This doesn't do surface winds, but they do have winds at the 850 mB height (about 500 ft). Things like this: http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov/pmb/nwp.../images/gfs_85 0_018m.gif Hope this helps, Steve Stein -- This article was auto-posted by the ne.weather.moderated Weatherbot program. Closely related to what you are looking for and what I think is a
really neat site is the following: http://www.arl.noaa.gov/ready/traj_neus.html which gives forward and backward trajectories. In other words, you can see where parcels of air originated that are arriving at/near your location. Take a look at it and play with it for a while. You can also see where aprcels orininating at/near your locale will be in 36 hours. Useful stuff and Its cool! In fact, the READY (arl) site on the whole is an excellent WX site to bookmark and look over! Jot -- This article was auto-posted by the ne.weather.moderated Weatherbot program.
