Hi. Why is latent heat so important as an energy source for mid latitude cyclones? Thanks When water vapor condenses to form cloud droplets, the energy that was used to originally evaporate that water (hence the latent energy) is released. The latent energy released by condensation is substantial, and goes toward powering the cyclone. For more information, short of going to a library and actually reading a meteorology book, just search google for latent energy and cyclones. |
