That's a lie, Ray. The hole was not there in the 1950s, when we started
measuring ozone at the South Pole. Again, something covered in freshman
science books.

Minor nitpick.

Some "experts" including Lomborg I believe has read science textbooks and did not understand
the content.

There was actually an local ozone minimum over Antarctic lasting into the spring, whereas
there was a spring maximum over the North Pole. This local minimum however had much higher values
of ozone than what is being measured in the ozone hole. The main reason afaik for this difference
between the North and the South pole is the strong Antarctic polar vortex
The same vortex is also an important part of the explanation of why the ozone hole is much stronger
over the South Pole than the North Pole

Yes, there was a (comparatively) small seasonal cycle. Then it started
getting much bigger (lower values) in the 1970s.

But we're seeing ozone depletion over the North Pole now too.
