HURRICANE BETA ADVISORY NUMBER 14 NWS TPC/NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL 4 AM EST SUN OCT 30 2005 ....HURRICANE BETA REACHES CATEGORY THREE INTENSITY WITH 115 MPH WINDS JUST OFF THE COAST OF NICARAGUA... While this brief transition to CAT 3 only lasted until the next advisory, it does eliminate BETA from being the ONLY Cat 2 hurricane of the year. At CAT 3, that puts 2005 as having 7 major hurricanes instead of only 6. This ties the 1961 record of 7 Major Hurricanes, and puts it one below 1950, whose 8 major hurricanes stands as the record for any one year. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Accumulated_Cyclone_Energy Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) is pegged at 218 according to the running tally on Wikipedia updated daily. This is still 4th place behing 1950, 1995, and 2004. Of the top years for ACE, SIX of the top NINE are 1995 or later, leaving only 3 of the top years from bygone climate eras. 1950, 1955, and 1961 in the top nine ACE years are all from the WWII CO2 emissions being sunk down slowly over 20 years. You can expect the same gradual 20-year sinkage of CO2 following any curtailment of emissions (which has not started yet, so the climate moderation trend cannot start yet either). THERE IS NO CYCLES which correspond to these trends. There are persons with jobs and real-estate holdings in hurricane-prone areas which claim trends which do not exist in the records themselves. bElieve the records. Do your own counts. Demand the "experts" put their data and reasoning online in non-subscription webpages. I am now formally charging Dr. Max Mayfield, director of the National Hurricane Center of fraudulently falsifying the data of the records with his pernicious false statements about trends not observable in the records. There is nothing cyclic as the prime mover in the current storm trends. There is no valid sound science to support any "cycles" similar to this period in earlier times. http://tinyurl.com/bvszp http://news.google.com Results 1 - 34 of 34 for Max-Mayfield cycle | cycles | trend.
