Judge Rejects 'Intelligent Design'
Associated Press
December 20, 2005 11:21 a.m.

HARRISBURG, Pa. -- "Intelligent design" can't be mentioned in biology classes
in a Pennsylvania public school district, a federal judge said Tuesday, ruling
in one of the biggest courtroom clashes on evolution since the 1925 Scopes
trial.

Dover Area School Board members violated the Constitution when they ordered
that its biology curriculum must include the notion that life on Earth was
produced by an unidentified intelligent cause, U.S. District Judge John E.
Jones III said. Several members repeatedly lied to cover their motives even
while professing religious beliefs, he said.

Here is the judge's decision:

I just finished reading the decision. It is a TOTAL
victory for science over pseudo-science. Long
about page 60 it even says that science must
consider only natural, and not supernatural,
explanations. (DUH!) This will surely be applied
to the Kansas state school board, which has
tried to redefine science to include the supernatural.

This decision is that it is not the result of an
"activist judge." This decision is based totally
on president, not activism.

NOW, if we can only get the fossil fool pseudo
scientists into court!

So, will the new, more conservative Supreme Court rule that teaching religion
in public schools is constitutional, or will they rule that science is a form
of religion and thus should NOT be taught in public schools?? Given that the
Orientals are already producing an order of magnitude more engineers and
scientists than the U.S., that last option would sink U.S. science.

If science is a religion, can I claim to be a preacher and call my house a
"temple of science" and then stop paying property taxes, like a Christian
Church? I'd like to participate in all those other non-profit benifits,
just like the Baptists and the Catholics. This could get fun, unless the
Fundi's go on a "Sci-witch hunt" rampage.

The Flight of the Creative Class: The New Global Competition for Talent
Richard Florida
Description: Economics professor Richard Florida writes that America
needs to facilitate the emigration of talented artists, scientists,
doctors, and other industry-leading thinkers so that their talents are
realized in America, as opposed to countries abroad. This is the topic
of his new book, "The Flight of the Creative Class: The New Global
Competition for Talent." In it, the author makes the case that shifting
societal values, the rising costs of urban living throughout America,
and the enthusiasm displayed by those countries eager to foster a
creative environment for the talented, have changed America's role in
the global competition for talent.

Author Bio: Richard Florida is also the author of "Rise of the Creative
Class," Washington Monthly's 2002 political book of the year. He is
currently a public policy professor at George Mason University and a
Senior Fellow with the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC.

Why not? Don't we have the "Church of Scientology"?

Maybe that has something to do with the lack of a proper K-12
education? it's hard for little Johnny to be a good engineer or
scientist if he can't read, write or do mathematics.

No earthy engineer is going to stop the second coming.

Let them have thier pointless engineers and so called scientists. We will
bask in the glory and glow of God in the end times that are now upon us.

Why would the Supreme Court rule on this? It's
not likely to be appealed, since the School Board
was voted out en masse and replaced by saner members.
