"Schneider admits that no one truly knows whether the globe will warm
3 or as much as 10 degrees this century or how much the sea levels
will rise due to the melting of the Greenland ice sheet. The fact is
that we should not get hung up on the numbers and be realistic in what
we can actually do to reduce this problem."

Does anyone else see the absurdity of the first sentence followed by
that second statement? He essentially says, don't worry about the fact
that we really don't know what the **** is going to happen, just trust
us and give us all your money. Be realistic in what we can do to
reduce this problem when we don't even know what exactly the problem
is or is going to be.

Anybody got a bridge to sell?

Schneider is good at wordplay. Good catch. It has become a standard ploy to
ask and plead about throwing money at a problem that may not exist by their
own admission.

So if the Soviets had launched their missiles at us, would you have
said, "We don't know if we'll be destroyed 10 times over or 20 times
over, and since we don't know, there's nothing to worry about"?
