When they are described as "unprecedented" by the media, I doubt that
such floods "come with the territory"

The media's collective memory doesn't go back very far. Nor does the
collective memory of most of the *******s now here in the deep north
of the deep south -- because most of them weren't even here 30 years
ago! (Bloody wet-backs! :-)
