The Reality Of Climate Change - June, July Hottest Months EVER In Texas Here in the heart of Texas it gets hot in the summer. Very hot. 95 or above. Every day. All summer long. It even tops 100 from time to time. We expect this. But we've never seen anything like this year. We hit 100 degrees for the first time on May 20, then again on the 23rd. On average, our first 100 degree day arrives on or about July 11. This past June was the Hottest June ever in Austin - and everywhere else in Texas - since temperatures have been accurately charted, beginning in 1854. The average daily high temperature for Austin in June was 99.6 degrees. Normal average high temp is under 90. Eighteen times in June alone the daily high temperature exceeded 100 degrees here in Austin. To put that in perspective, we average only eleven 100 degree days for an entire year. Fifteen days set new all time high marks. That's out of 155 years of temperature records. Not only was June 2009 the hottest June ever, it was the 10th hottest month of any month of any year in the history of Texas. July made June look like January. The average daily high temperature for July was *over* 100 degrees - 102 to be exact. The average daily high temp for Austin in August is 96. Out of the 31 days of July, we topped the 100 degree mark 26 times. Not only was July the hottest July ever, it was the hottest month of any month ever in the history of Texas. The previous record had stood since 1860. Now, a day or two of hot weather is just that. Weather. A heat wave may even last a week or more. Sometimes weeks. Still weather. But this isn't a heat wave. This isn't an anomaly. This is record heat every single day, day in and day out, all summer long. And it's been happening for years, now. In entire the history of Texas, only 2 of the 20 hottest years on record occurred before 1990 - 1860 and 1925. Every year since 1990 has made the hottest top 20. This isn't weather. This, my friends, is an example of a change in CLIMATE. I don't know why anyone would want to live in Texas. If you don't like 100 degree heat you might want to move north. Meanwhile, I recommend building some more coal-fired power plants so you have plenty of electricity for your AC. You don't want to be relying on those intermittent wind turbines for your juice on those hot windless days. Luddite ignorant deniers can whine, bitch and moan all they wish, but the facts are still the facts. We don't need to rely on computer models projecting future climate. It is already much warmer, period EOS, move the **** on, despite the constant braying of the denier asses. And all of this record heat during a period of record LOW sun energy output, contrary to the scientifically subliterate boob.babble bull**** lies of the deniers. And life still goes on. Newsflash: summer is hot as **** in Texas. Why do we need to spend trillions to solve a non-problem? These denier fools remind me of the uber silly residents of the mythical Hy-Brasil in Terry Jones' 'Erik the Viking.' If you haven't seen it, the king and his faithful subjects all continue to insist that everything is fine, nothing is wrong and it's only a bit damp, and they continue to sing out, wildly off pitch but happily - as their entire world sinks into the sea, drowning them all. How dramatic and scary. Ooohh! The simple fact is the ignorant denier simpletons won't accept the observed reality of climate change, even as the deep waters of reality are closing over their pointy little heads. The answer is screw 'em. **** the stupid little gits sideways with a cinder block. There is absolutely no reason to pay even the slightest attention to anything these babbling simps fart out. |
