UNISYS surface temp map anomaly

On the 12Z Sept 27 UNISYS weather surface temperature map
there was a hot spike over UTAH that could only have been
some sort of graphic computer glitch - not a real temperature
gradient - I assume.

I captured the image and posted it at: www.nyx.net/~wboas/anomaly.gif

If anyone has any thoughts I'd welcome comment.

I sent a query to UNISYS, awaiting reply...

I'm going to guess that it is a data glitch - the graphics program did
what it was meant to do. But a single point of 110F+ surrounded by points
of 45-50F? nah, don't buy it for moment, other than it makes an amusing
graphic.

Source of the error? that's a good question. It could be a garbled
data recording or transmission.

Hmmm...45C=113F, so maybe it was measured as 45F, but transmitted as 45C,
which is really close to the value plotted.
