Why is ice slippery? When other substances such as metal or candlewax reach
a temperature that solidifies them they are not slippery so why water?

Having just enjoyed the aurora here in central Scotland I have a question.
Does the phenomena always occur at night for some reason or does it occur
and go unnoticed during the day too?
