I am looking for algorithm or code example in C or fortran to interpolate
values from scattered observation points inside à 3D rectangular grid to
initialize a fluid dynamic model....

IMO the sweet spot education-wise is a Masters degree. A lot of
employers want someone with more knowledge than a Bachelors degree
but don't want to pay the freight for someone with a PH.D. ...
