Apparently in last nights London Evening Standard Ken's back on the moronic
scale yet again. Maybe he feels he can garner a view votes in the future
from the Snow rampers? Why not? he ingratiates himself with every other tin
pot minority group.

Of course Ken sneezes and the media gets chicken flu. This Ken hyped up
diversionary scare story about Londoners being prepared for a 63 type
winter-what lies and tosh!. Yet ITN and the Londson Evening Standard (wot
standard) happily endorsed the well known L.L.L.R.F (looney left long range
forecaster)

The violent crime rate in London is atrocious, the last figures I
saw -taking into account the the police are reluctant to reveal the real
statistics for political reasons -were showing one gang rape per week, at
least several killings a week topped up with plenty of stabbings, muggings
and vandalism at an unprecedented levels.

No wonder ken wants to summon up as many diversions as he can, on this
occassion it's the bogeyman of severe winter weather. Mind you it'll be the
first time ever if he mentions pensioners.
No, too me it's quite clear. Ken hankers after a Winter of colds, flu and
blocked noses. Why, then he can bring in a Winter congestion charge!

The figures that you read about are from the Home Office, not the police
themselves. Police don't reveal figures because the raw figures are

job of the Home Office. They are also *reported* crimes. In other words
they are only the crimes that someone has been bothered to report and
they *may* have reported the wrong crime (e.g. a number of allegations
of theft of motor vehicle should really be classified as an insurance
fraud). Add to that certain criteria that the Home Office impose (I
don't know about today but they used to only allow a murder to be
classified as such when/if a person was convicted of murder). The
figures often only represent the faith that the victim has that the

Well Howard you sound like you may be a policeman. Now I hear about crime
generally every day in London. The most surprising source has been the local
papers. more so the South London Press which is published twice a week. If
you search their archives you'll find just how much we've know become almost
impervious to these events. as for the National press and the BBC they only
report crime if it's homophobic or deemed racist.
If you travel on London buses for a couple of weeks at various times during
the day you'll see just how intimidating it is for some sections of the
population.

The wheel came off, as far as London is concerned, several years ago.
Just remember that Sydenham is not the worst place in the capital but
you still have my sympathy. When I retired I just looked around for a
place without crime (as I knew it). Things are much more peaceful where
I now live, largely due to a good culture. Mind you, it is not totally
devoid of crime. Every week the Carmarthen Journal reports that one or
two cars have been damaged.

As you live in London (at least thats the impression I get as you
obviously hate the place sooooo much) why don't you buy the lack of
Standards and read the article for yourself, the fact is all Ken was
doing was repeating information from the MO, I suspect no I'm certain
that the press have whipped up the story, if it means that 1 extra
person is prepared then fantastic, but please don't moan if you land up
walking home in a blizzard when the tube is FUBAR, the overhead trains
busses and Taxis similarly.
