This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX,
and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten

High confidence for next week up to Wednesday but confidence quickly turns low
after then.

On Sunday a band of rain will move east across all of the UK followed by
blustery showers. In the west the showers are likely to turn heavy and possibly
thundery in the north. Winds fresh to strong south to southwesterly with
temperatures still above average but cooler than recently.

Monday looks like being a showery day with fresh to strong southwesterly winds.
Some of the showers are likely to be heavy with perhaps a longer spell of rain
moving east during the day. Some sunshine, especially in eastern areas in the
morning with temperatures near average for the time of year.

More showers are likely on Tuesday but they will be more scattered with winds
easing and sunny spells. Most sunshine likely in the south with most showers
over Scotland. Good visibility with temperatures close to normal.

On Wednesday more cloud and rain is likely to spread up from the southwest
during the day with freshening SE winds later turning southwesterly. It's
certainly possible that many northern and eastern areas could stay fine and dry
during daylight hours after possibly a frost at first in the north. temperatures
around normal.

Thursday and Friday have low confidence but most likely to turn very showery on
Thursday with fresh to strong west to southwest winds. Less showers on Friday
with lighter winds and more sunshine. Possibly a slight frost on Friday night in
eastern areas with temperatures close to normal.

The weekend looks like being mainly dry with frost and fog patches at night.
Chance of strengthening southerly winds and rain getting into western areas
later on Sunday. Temperatures around normal but turning milder later. Low
confidence.

Trend for the following week at low to moderate confidence is for more rain
early on but then turning dry and cold later as pressure builds. Increasing risk
of fog and frost as the week progresses.

Health and safety rules now dictate a minimum distance from bonfires. This
is governed by rules relating to the circumpherence, height and heat of the
bonfire. A maximum heat/chill ratio of around 1:40 is recommended!

Monday looks like being a showery day with fresh to strong southwesterly winds.
Some of the showers are likely to be heavy with perhaps a longer spell of rain
moving east during the day. Some sunshine, especially in eastern areas in the
morning with temperatures near average for the time of year.

Given temperatures are currently typically about 5C above average,
Monday will probably feel positively cold and wintry by comparison!

It's the year 2010.

The New Puritan party, led by Oliver Cromwell II (born May 3 1979 and
elected primarily due to his model like looks) and an amalgamation of
the "New Labour" wing of Labour plus certain Conservatives, has
succeeded in banning Bonfire Night altogether as it's considered too
risky and a waste of public money. :-)
