================================================== ==============================
=== This forecast represents the *PERSONAL OPINION* of the Chief forecaster at the privately run Haytor meteorological office in Devon on how the weather may unfold next week. The Chief forecaster will take no responsibility whatsoever for any actions arising from its use. It is provided freely in the spirit of freedom and the great love for meteorology that we personally enjoy and wish to share freely with others. ================================================== ============================== === Summary valid for Sunday 06/11/05 to Saturday 12/11/05 TOI (time of issue) Thursday 03/11/05 2100 UK local time This summary is based on a quick appraisal of the GFS, JMA, ECMWF, UKMO, FAX, and ENS (NCEP ensemble) labelled charts available from the superb http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten High confidence that next week will be changeable with plenty of rain in all areas. Well it looks like fine weather is at a premium and the fine weather weather window I predicted for Saturday 5th will be for daylight hours in the east only. Ah well ! It was predicted with low confidence after all. I'm not going to go into much detail for next week as the situation is such that timings could be well out. However, on Sunday we will see a band of rain working its way east across the UK followed by showers. Temperatures close to normal with fresh to strong SW winds. On Monday a new vigorous low looks like bringing gales to northern areas and plenty of rain and wind to all other areas. Temperatures around normal. The rest of the week is changeable with spells of rain alternating with drier interludes. Gradually turning colder in the north with some snow over the Scottish mountains. Generally temperatures close to normal but occasionally mild at times, especially in the south. Winds generally moderate to fresh occasionally strong mainly SW to W in direction. It goes without saying that there is a risk of flooding in the west and north during the week as some of the rainfall will be heavy. Outlook for the following week with moderate confidence is for more rain and wind but turning colder in the north with some snow over hills. Chance of some longer drier interludes in the south. No sign yet of any really cold weather. Now where did I put that bottle of gin :-) Yes the wet weather has finally got to me :-) Will (Chief Meteorologist HMO/USW BSc ......... ) -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A COL BH site in East Dartmoor at Haytor, Devon 310m asl (1017 feet). mailto: www: http://www.lyneside.demon.co.uk/Hayt...antage_Pro.htm DISCLAIMER - All views and opinions expressed by myself are personal and do not necessarily represent those of my employer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
