Default [WR] mid Wales 59.1mm in 24 hours

My (now hopefully fixed) raingauge is reporting 59.1mm of rain in the
last 24 hours (to 3pm Tuesday). That's the highest 24 hour total I've
ever recorded, going back over 5 years into my manual days.

Today (since midnight) already we're at 38.4mm.

I have recorded 68mm since 6pm yesterday evening (when this rain
started). I thought the rain had stopped but it has just started again
so it may be a little more when I get to the 24 hour point.

Hasn't stopped here, although not heavy now. Don't have a rain gauge
but the Dee is still rising slowly and there's an occasional small
fountain from the culvert cover at the bottom of the drive.

As Jon would say.
Good job there was a warning out!

Well, reaching new highs and lows certainly makes life interesting.

My new high for a 24 hour period (1800 on 7-11-05 to 1800 on 8-11-05) is
74mm. I just couldn't manage that extra 1mm to reach 75 but that leaves
a new target for a future occasion. A neighbour who ventured to lower
levels this afternoon reported chaos with flooding in many places.

Felly sgrifennodd Howard Neil :
My new high for a 24 hour period (1800 on 7-11-05 to 1800 on 8-11-05) is
74mm.

I eventually managed 60.7mm over the same period, which was also my high 24
hour period.

Total rain today stands at 41.6mm (with 70 mins yet to go but it's dry now).

An acquaintance tells me that he went from Ceredigion up to Machynlleth
today. Apparently, the worst was to the south of Aberystwyth.

Up in the Mach/Aberhosan district they had a fair night and early morning.
From Lampeter up past Llanrhystud and down South to near Cardigan there were
areas where heavy rain did not stop from around 6pm Monday to past 4pm
Tuesday.
I was in contact with someone in Lower Cwmtwrch/Ystradgynlais area at around
10am Tuesday and he had a 'normally' wet night and dry morning, yet there
were stories of severe flooding in the area and down to Neath by tea time.
Mind you, he was a fair way up the hill and not down in the valley. That
contraflow over the river in Cwmtwrch must be a sight to behold when the
river is at its angriest.

Indeed. Does it still run across the road or did the recent works fix that?
