We expected it it from the independent channels ..but the Beeb
Well those independent channels were always a joke but the BBC weather
programme has become the Italia Conti school of all round entertainers. Helen Young writing childrens books, Louise Lear presenting make over programmes, Dan Corbet appearing in 'Jack and the Beanstalk' as the rear end of the cow with the main part of the cow being played by Carol Driftwood. Whatever next? Everton Fox in 'Guys & Dolls, Darren Betts 'Seven forecasters for seven outlooks' and possibly Philip Avery in La Cage aux Folles ? |

Lawrence , you should expect it. The BBC are a different ball game now. And
a bad one at that in my opinion. Thank god for SKY. Gimme some Americanisation anyday to break free the BBC 'Chains' that want to preserve all that is bad about this country. -------------------------------------------------------- "Lawrence Jenkins" wrote in message ... No Danny I'm going to their web pages and clicking on Health and Culture. I never realised weather had a "culture" I thought it help shape culture. However they have an article on how the Aborigines have accumulated 18,000 generations of Weather experience. In fact they are so in touch with nature and advanced in meteorology that they actually launched the first boomerang weather satellite from woolagong in 1066 which coincides with the Norman invasion -spooky eh. |

Gimme some Americanisation anyday to break free the BBC Have you watched Francis on Sky recently? I don't think so. Yesterday evening, their new superduper BBC-chasing 3D graphics were in their element as he swooped around the country at 100,000 miles an hour and a magnification of about 10 times. As he did so, he mentioned all the rain expected over NW Britain and Ireland. Fine so far... then he added that there would be a few showers over England. But what did we get as he zooomed southwards? Graphics of continuous pouring rain all over the screen and all over the South of England (nothing like how you'd expect a shower representation to look!) - apparently contradicting what he kept saying about the "odd shower". When oh when will they learn... all of them have now caught the stupid graphics bug, it seems. :( No cheers at all, Dave |

Almost because I still think the Regional ones are still useful, like David Braine who is superb IMO. Don't watch them is my advice and tell the BBC/ITV/SKY why you've stopped watching them. I tell everyone I meet now to use the InterNet if they can for weather information. I sound like a Monster online... maybe.
I *long* for peace, trust me. I get angry when people say we should try reason with nasty people. No wonder terrorists live in Britain. They must *love* the BBC. That's why I think Bush is 'ok' . I do believe in man protecting himself with a Gun from the *evil scum* that increasingly inhabit this Earth. Anyone hurt my children I'd want to blow them away , period. Gun licensing in USA is very strong, but *they* can get round it like in this country. Nothing wrong with agressing the Agressor.. the only way in my book. These scum don't reason. Ok, no more politics.. this group doesn't need it. I'll talk weather only from now on. Sorry. --------------------------------------------------------------- "Dave.C" wrote in message ... Such as? Will, my comments were of course meant to highlight the continuing spread of 3Dgraphicitus among the National stations. As you may have suspected, I am happy with the quality of the South Regional forecasts (Alina Jenkins), usually complete with an Atlantic chart, isobars, fronts and proper a wind representation. The trouible is, I often miss that *one* early evening regional forecast and everything else on TV is pretty poor. I'm glad David is doing a good job down in the South West too, but yes, I too am often forced onto the Internet to get the information I need. Cheers, Dave |

As it is, the presenter actually impedes the transmission of information with a hailstorm of duff metaphors. Nina Ridge, with gormless unknowing humour, said a couple of days ago that "the rain will be sinking into SE England". IT'S OUR POROUS SOIL, LOVE! The only forecaster worth listening to now is Peter Gibbs, the agreeable snappy Brummie. Rod McElwee always seems to having a private giggle to himself like some character out of Viz. Intensely irritating. But sticking to the radio at least means one is spared those infantile graphics. Grrr! Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, Surrey. |
