"It WILL be the coldest winter for years" Their emphasis, not mine! Glad
forecasting (sorry, media interpretation;-) ) has become a definitive
ability these days. We will see.

Yes they are so right, and this will surely be emphasised by the weekend's
very wet rain. Why temperatures could get down as low a four centigrade.
Carol Driftwood warned this morning that anyone sitting topless on an open
topped Blackpool bus would experience a wind-chill.

It reminds me of the time I caught my next door neighbour walking out in his
garden in January with no trousers or underpants.
When I enquired as to why he would be doing such a thing, he replied.

" A couple of weeks ago I went out in the cold weather without a scarf and
got a very stiff neck...................this was the wifes idea!"

On the Daily Politics programme on BBC2 today in a feature about energy
prices Jay Wynne said more than once that there is a 65 percent
probability that this winter will be MUCH colder than average. Again,
the emphasis is his.

Thought I heard the PM say around lunchtime that it was likely to be
a bad winter.

I think he meant that as a personal statement. Mind you with all those
drinkers now going home in the wee hours of the morning we could get some
frozen pee's
