Default Major snow falls across the Alps

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4534154.stm

Pleased to hear that Kaprun in Austria is included in the list of resorts
that now have record amounts of snow for this time of year. This is where I
will be heading early in the New Year. I just hope that the thrust of mild
air coming up from the SW on the northern side of the European Anticyclone
continues stall against the colder continental air!

Tell me about it!!!!!!

Here in Muehlbach we had 80cm of snow and it has been falling all day!!! I
think we must have over a metre of snow now. Spent a lot of my time clearing
snow today and it looks I will tomorrow aswell!!!!

Hi,

If any one is interested in Austrian Alps weather check this link out:-

http://www.lwz-salzburg.org/daten.asp

Its part of the avalanche service for salzburger land but this shows weather
stations in various locations.

Hope this is of interest to some one.

Nigel.

PS - Some slopes shut today due to avalanche danger and they are forcasting
MORE snow- Great now we have too much snow!!!

If it is as good as you hope then there will be no way I'll be able to reach
the moor from Dartington. I'll leave it to the locals to enjoy and savour!
