Well done Neil!

BBC Radio Five Live has just reported a message from Kent Police -
there is snow on the M20! (they didn't say which bit).

I guess that means you can go to bed now, Neil :-)

What this does show is that the heavier showers will quickly lower the wet
bulb freezing level towards the surface.

The synic in me says on the surface for about 2 seconds before it
melts. Think we had a brief bit of sleet this afternoon, but then I'm
not expecting to get much if any from this event. Mind we do end up on
the cold side of the 528 line for the next day or two so any
precipitation we do get is more likely to be snow.

Currently:

Temperature Wind
Outside: 0.6°C 5 sec Gust: 6mph 51° NE
Wind Chill: -3°C 1 Min Average: 7mph (F2 Light Breeze) 64° ENE

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I had my share in November when
I was cut off (by snow) for 7 days. It looks likely that I will not be
really affected this time but I've had my fun.

Drove through a heavy snow shower on the coast road in Saltdean, 5 miles
east of Brighton at 2230 this evening. Light covering on cars and grass
so far
