[WR] Solent - Snow and it's lying!

The wonders will never cease! Continuous moderate snow here for the
last 15 minutes and it's currently 100% cover including the local
streets. Depth now 6mm and accumulating.

Temperature's fallen back from around +1 C all afterrnoon (-4.3C last
night) to 0.0 deg C. The naighbours' kids are loving it! I haven't the
heart to tell them it's unlikely to stick around for long...

Follow up.

Still continuous moderate snow in fairly light winds and the
accumulation is now measurable in centimetres. One! :D The main thing
is, it actually feels like proper snow when you walk on it (extremely
unusual down here).

Temperature steady at 0.0C and I've had a phone call from Stubbington
(less than a mile from the Solent coastline at Solent MRSC) to say
it's snowing and settling there, too.

The front has certainly pepped up in the last hour or so in the South!
But I expect it to ease off and turn sleety soon. It always does.

You mean it scrunches rather than squelches? :)

Yes, that's just the word I was looking for! It eased off then
stopped after an hour or so and now the temperature is up to +1.7 but
the snow is *still* scrunchy at 100% cover due to the frozen base.
Depth is about 16 mm.

But unless the sky clears, it will be gone by morning :(
