Default Its going to be a dry month!

Here in Mid Devon (Exeter) have only had 17.2MM so far this month, and if it
stays like that it will be the joint lowest January rainfall on record (17
years). 1997 we had 17.2MM as well.

How is it looking in the dry Sussex and to the east?

Here in Ewell, Epsom in Surrey my January rainfall is 14.7mm which makes it
the driest January only since 1997 when I logged only 13.3mm. The 1971 -
2000 mean is 63.4mm. After the very dry January in 1997, February was wet
with 71.0mm.

Just east of you in mid Dorset I have had 26mm odd (figures not to
hand). February last year was something like 11.2mm

Another 0.5mm today takes the total for January up to 17.3mm (about 25%
of the local lta). If it stays that low, it will be the driest month I
have recorded since I started observations in September 2004.

20.8mm in St Albans in January, it seems a very typical figure for a large
area of the country .
