[wr] Flooding Aberfeldy
Thankfully not actually in my property so far.
35 mm of rain here (24hrs) and obviously much, much more just to the west have resulted in the Tay bursting its banks from Loch Tay right down to Dunkeld. The normal beach at the head of the Loch at Kenmore (about 30 foot of sand and shingle) has been submerged and the Loch is right up to the road. The road into Aberfeldy from Weem is submerged as is the golf course, caravan park and most of the valley floor. In parts the floodwater has widened to about 1/4 mile in parts Currently having to detour by 12 miles or so to get into town, and that is going through about 5 or so fords. The Tay is right at the road on the Eastern and Western exits and it would not take much to breach. Quite a few farms are completely surrounded by the water. Unlike the August floods it seems that the Tay is the most affected this time. Our burn has risen by around 1 meter but has receded in the last 4 hours, it was rather angry and noisy at first light. having just cleaned up from August I am somewhat nervy at this time. I am hoping that we get snow tonight brian aberfeldy |

I was just thinking of you Brian! My friends parents are at Pubil and
they are reporting 'The flooding even here in Glen Lyon this morning is awesome but already receding. The River is in torrent and has broken its banks.' They are fortunate in that they are about 10m up from the river, plus Pubil is about 1/4 mile downstream from Lubreoch Dam which controls the water flow. I hope all goes well for you this time, and that you avoid any flooding. Douglas |

Yes in August, it seems that the main rivers are affected this time, in
August it was the wee ones that came off the hills. Here's hoping brian "Keith (Southend)" wrote in message ... Were you not flooded earlier on in the year? Flooding Aberfeldy
Hi Douglas
My wife is just back from Town via Kenmore, lots of water on the road around Kenmore and on the road between Kenmore and Aberfeldy. Raining hard at the moment. Heard that at least one property was flooded out in Glen Lyon this morning. brian wrote in message oups.com... I was just thinking of you Brian! Here's hoping That ties in with the focus of heaviest rain ... over Perthshire in August (in a northeasterly), and over Argyll yesterday and last night (in a southwesterly). The present pattern is relatively common; what you endured in August is mercifully much rarer. Philip Eden |
