Mid-month musings from Bracknell(Tawfield)
With the first half of this month of January (2005) out of the way, the
figures a- Mean 24hr (09-09) temperatu 7.1degC (anomaly on estimated 1971-2000 LTA of +2.9degC) [ this relates very well to Philip Eden's CET figure of +3.0degC, see:- http://www.climate-uk.com/page2.html ] Total rainfall (09-09) : 15.7mm (representing 24% of 1971-2000 eLTA) NO air frosts recorded, and only two frosts by the grass-min thermometer. Looking at the Beaufort Park data set for 1971-2000, the warmest Januarys in that set (with anomalies 1971-2000) are (in chronological order): 1975 mean 6.7 +2.6 1983 mean 6.7 +2.6 1990 mean 6.8 +2.7 (warmest) 1993 mean 6.2 +2.1 and for Tawfield since 2000 ... 2002 mean 5.7 +1.5 2004 mean 5.4 +1.2 and for this January so far (rpt of above) 2005 mean 7.1 +2.9 and although I'm sure there will be a 'correction' (as the financial markets euphemistically put it), before the end of the month, it looks as if we are heading for another significantly warm month.
