Default [WR] Heavy snow - Motherwell

Currently experiencing a heavy snow shower here.
Visibility dropping below 200 meters and the snow begining to accumulate on
the ground - including roads.
Night has arrived very quickly here, even though sunset isn't for a few
minutes yet.
Could be a troublesome rush hour.

Back into daylight again.
Quite an outstanding change of light.
It truely was as dark as a moonlit midnight here a few moments ago, I've
never experienced anything quite like it.

And some more beefy showers in the past hour have created rather hazerdous
roads in this area.
A glimpse of which can be seen on my website's front page, url below. (Sorry
about the blurred picture - no tripod at hand)
No sign of gritters thus far.

Few traces of the earlier hail left
Quite mild and still -- in fact its actually not even raining just now!
Much better than last night which was quite wild and wet again

maybe we get to miss this one :~))

We have 1-2cm of snow and the snow plough/gritter has been here three
times since 1500! It's become a bit of a political issue since New
Year's Eve 2003.

We have about 2-3 cm of wet snow that fell quickly, snowing lightly now at
19.30. I would have to be 1200 feet up in the hills walking the dog when the
heavy shower arrived, I was spitting out snow and slipping all the way down
the hill to the village in the dark. I arrived home like a snowman as I was
walking facing west all the way down!

Nothing lying but small flakes are gently falling
Wind dropped to nothing
Even the moon visible but hazy.
If the temperature falls some more then we may wake up to a white covering

SImilar to here in Edinburgh. I had the joys of cycling home in a
horizontal blizzard just after you posted. Watching the sky clear
ahead of me sounded very similar to your own experience.

Couple of big dumps of snow after that, kids outside looked like they
were having fun. Partner arrives home looking like a snowman, much
hilarity!

Was the wind meant to drop so low though? Its gone very, very quiet
here again, much like the storm on tuesday night.

Great site too, eying up possible locations for a station here, only
one I know of in Edinburgh is www.isitstillraining.co.uk

Showers have became more frequent here as the evening has progressed.
Looking at the radar - we may well be in for a persistant spell of snow
with an echo heading this way, stretching out to Kintyre and beyond.
Generally a mixture of snow, soft hail/snow grain.
Around 2cm cover at the moment with less and less of a thaw in between
showers.
Alex.
