I have a Boltek system
They work very well with major storm cells and the closer they are to your
location the more accurate they are. Odd strikes may not be detected or
counted as noise.

Hi everyone, I normally lurk on this newsgroup but i thought i might ask

a
question of the lightning detection system.I have just come in from a

walk
around the mansfield area notts/derby's, heavens opened and several

cracks
of thunder occured. I checked on several lightning detection sights ,
nothing . I have noticed this on a number of occasions so was wondering

if
the detection system is flawed or has areas where detection is hit and

miss.

I would like to know this as well, seeing as a Boltek detector costs
knocking on the door of 500 quid.

How accurate are these things?

Rob.

Mine is set to ignore uncorrelated strikes so it will not show single
strikes until its has decided that they are part of a cell. This makes the
system less cluttered and more efficient. Its not the Boltek that's the
issue either, this will see almost all the strikes its the software and how
it interpreted the data.

For a singal antenna system they are very good at locating strikes.
