My first 20C day today at 24.5C, easily beating the previous
record (from yesterday) of 18.3C. Now this got me thinking, there must have been a fair number of places in the country today whose first 20C day was also their first 25C day. Now to me this seams like a statistically rather unlikey feat but perhaps it's more common than I might imagine. Is there any data on this interesting (though admittedly rather obscure) event? A large range as well, from 6.7C overnight to a max of 24.5C today. Although that 6.7C must have been recorded in clearer conditions early in the night as when I was up at around 5.30 it was pretty cloudy and the temp was already around 9C. It hasn't happened here in 24 years' recording though there were two occasions when the highest of the year jumped from below 20° to above 25° in *two* days, but never just one. not quite a 25C here in northern ireland! I managed to record a 12.4C max
between the heavy off-on rain all day! most of the day the temp was below 8C! "Col" wrote in message ... My first 20C day today at 24.5C, easily beating the previous record (from yesterday) of 18.3C.
