They have snow in the mountains in winter - they even have ski resorts.

Apart from over the Scottish Highlands that is simply not true in this
country, and never has been.

If you ignored a forecast for a mild winter as a possibility simply
because that isn't what you wanted is irrational.

Looks like Giles got it right, perhaps you should have listen to him

or
at least taken into account a number of forecasts from various

sources
before coming to any definite conclusions about the forthcoming

winter.

See my answer to this in one of my earlier replies, about Brian Gaze
and Tom Presutti having just left university at the time, plus the
above about cold and snow.:-)

You were duped into believing something that common sense should
have told you to treat with extreme caution.

Don't let you're heart rule your head
Don't get me wrong, I'd like a severe winter too, but you have to be
realistic about these things.
Irrational. If you simply search out the forecast that best suits

your
desires then you can hardly be surprised whrn it fails to come off.

Because, as Gavin Partridge says, "I believed... I TRULY believed".

I assume you will be much more sceptical of winter forecasts in the future.

THESE MY F[censored]KING DREAMS.. and I want them BACK!!!:-( :-( :-(

So far, the only person to have clarified himself is Brian Gaze of The
Weather Outlook, and I respect him for that, in spite of the above.

You do realise that certain organisations make sentational winter
forecasts every year, hoping to get the glory in the unlikely event
it comes off, with the expectation it will be forgotten about if it

doesn't.

1. Not only is that most certainly NOT true - so I am actually STICKING
UP(!) for The Weather Outlook and co. here! - , and if it were, then, I
say once again, HOW THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW ABOUT SUCH A
THING?!!! :-( :-(

They do the media circuit every year with their extreme predictions
and gain as much publicity as possible. Then when nothing of note
happens, everybody forgets about it.......

2. Go and say this to Brian Gaze and Andrew Bond then. See what
happens.

They would deny it of course.

What, even the ones that forecast mild weather and it turns out cold?

What do you think?

You would forgive them of course so you wouldn't even be consistent
in your condemnations.

LOL - even Aussies EXPECT Britain's wintertime weather to be COLD, and

winters really are!:-o

True, but 1998 and 1999 winters are NORMAL?!!!

Why do folk talk about "them winters of old" and such then? Huh?:-~

Look, how many times do I have to say it:

HOW THE HELL WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT TOM PRESUTTI HAD JUST FINISHED
UNIVERSITY, GARRY SARRE WAS JUST "HAVING A LAUGH", AND THAT BRIAN GAZE
HAD ONLY JUST started THE VERY WEBSITE ITSELF?!!!

:-(

I TRUSTED these so-called "EXPERTS" - and I admit that I was wrong. Now
though, they are grown up, and know NOT to let their hearts rule their
heads.:-o :-)

I trust them more now, and am looking to iron out my differences with
them. But my dreams HAVE been flushed down the toilet... and one of
them is going to have to put (pink? :-) ) gloves on and get back them
BACK, or so to speak.:-o ;-)

Don't let you're heart rule your head

I honestly THOUGHT was listening to EXPERTS. See above.

By the way, I wrote my previous reply LONG before what was coming up
next in your very own post.;-) :-O

Bond is a real emerging RIVAL to the Met Office, of course he will get

NO. I would forgive them IF - and I HAVE been through this ALREADY, and
not just ONCE, but MANY TIMES, BOY - the following:

1. It came off,
2. They apologised if not,
3. They did not do this YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR AFTER YEAR!!!:-(

Tom Presutti is BY FAR the worst offender though. So far no sign of my
snowfall, ONCE AGAIN, Thomas!!:-(

Don't make me bring out the old angry faces again.:-)

:-(

Now, ask you AGAIN:
WHAT'S HAPPENED TO THEM?!!! !!! !!! :-(

Nope, but there were very mild winters in the early 70's as well.
That was not 'normal' either.
I'm not trying to argue that winters are getting less snowy,
my point is that they were never really *that* snowy in the
first place.

Why do folk talk about "them winters of old" and such then? Huh?:-~

Selective memories. We all do it. People remember 1947/63/79 and Dec '81
and forget the intervening relitively snowless years.

want to turn out bitter about this, do you?

I mean the general public who are not going to remember someone in
March who predicted a cold winter back in November.

Yeah, sure, I am LIVING PROOF of that, am I not, guys?:-D
