Some sad news

Dear All

I heard through a friend (who works with Paul Knightly, an occasional

poster here) that Mark Lowe, who posted on here (according to google)

from
around 2000 to early 2004, died recently of a cancer-related illness.

Maybe it would have been more fitting for Paul Knightly to have

written
this but I'm not sure you're on here any more Paul?

Hi Rich and all,

I still occasionally post on here.

I debated whether to post when Mark died, and decided not to for a
while, out of respect for his family. However, I was always intending
to, but am glad that Rich has done so, and has written such kind words.

Mark and I went storm chasing 3 times to the USA, and he was to join us
in 2004, but his illness meant he had to pull out at the last moment.
He was confident of overcomming the cancer, and had been making good
progress. However, he took a sudden turn for the worse in September,
and died in October. This was a shock to myself, who had always
imagined we would be making our annual US storm chasing trip for many
years.

He was a great friend, and we would chat about storms, snow, and
weather in general for ages! He will be sorely missed.

Paul.
