Over hyping the forecast, so they cannnot be blamed if people start passing out with the heat. Think about it!!!! They do the same with forecasts of snow. The motto is over do it, and they cant say they were not warned!!! Part of their pay depends on getting forecasts right but they deliberately get them wrong for Health & Safety reasons? Yes, that seems likely. -- Graham Davis Bracknell |

Pleasant breeze outside maybe. I'm stuck indoors where it is 34.1C and the fan is blowing hot air at me. It's a relatively chilly 25 in my lounge at the moment. Unfortunately, my computer is upstairs where it's 30. -- Graham Davis Bracknell |

I'd like to think the Met Office or the BBC haven't descended to those depths, but maybe they have. Max temp here 32.4°C, 0.9°C higher than yesterday. Last night's min was 10.4° and the diurnal range is within 0.1° of my record (starting 1983). Tudor Hughes, Warlingham, NE Surrey, 556 ft. |

In message , Robin Nicholson
writes Rod McElwee said on the 1255 pm R4 forecast that he expected 37°C somewhere in the Midlands or Welsh borders tomorrow (Wednesday), much as he did yesterday. I think he also gave a list at the end of the BBC1 news of the possible places that might top the list and I am certain stately Cheltenham was the favourite. With the slight problem that Cheltenham doesn't have an official weather station any longer. Bear that in mind if they start quoting temperatures at you tomorrow - they can't be from the same location that recorded 99F in 1990. -- Paul Hyett, Cheltenham (change 'invalid83261' to 'blueyonder' to email me) |
