They do the same with forecasts of snow. The motto is over do it, and they
cant say they were not warned!!!

Part of their pay depends on getting forecasts right but they deliberately
get them wrong for Health & Safety reasons? Yes, that seems likely.

Pleasant breeze outside maybe. I'm stuck indoors where it is 34.1C and
the fan is blowing hot air at me.

It's a relatively chilly 25 in my lounge at the moment. Unfortunately, my
computer is upstairs where it's 30.

If yer quick look at:

http://meteocentre.com/lightning/map...time=0&lang=en

If yer not quick, try click 1,2 or 3 hours ago and click Go

The storms down over spain (mostly orange, red and purples) indicating
high amounts of lightning strikes - forms a pointer arrow shape (north
in the Bay of Biscay)

I think they know which way to come... this way my babies.... this way

That's quite an accusation if it refers to the actual
temperature values being deliberately inflated as opposed to merely
exaggerating the *effects* of high temperatures. I'd like to think the
Met Office or the BBC haven't descended to those depths, but maybe they
have.
Max temp here 32.4°C, 0.9°C higher than yesterday. Last
night's min was 10.4° and the diurnal range is within 0.1° of my
record (starting 1983).

In message , Robin Nicholson
writes

Rod McElwee said on the 1255 pm R4 forecast that he expected
37°C somewhere in the Midlands or Welsh borders tomorrow (Wednesday),
much as he did yesterday.

I think he also gave a list at the end of the BBC1 news of the
possible places that might top the list and I am certain stately
Cheltenham was the favourite.

With the slight problem that Cheltenham doesn't have an official weather
station any longer.

Bear that in mind if they start quoting temperatures at you tomorrow -
they can't be from the same location that recorded 99F in 1990.
