uk.sci.weather (UK Weather) (uk.sci.weather) For the discussion of daily weather events, chiefly affecting the UK and adjacent parts of Europe, both past and predicted. The discussion is open to all, but contributions on a practical scientific level are encouraged.

Default Where has our normal rain gone?

Todays storms notwithstanding we've had much reduced rain in the UK and
europe this year. Presumably the same amount (or more) of water has
evaporated off the atlantic so where is it eventually precipitating
out? Is it a very
wet summer in scandinavia or somewhere in the east?

Excuse me if this is a dumb question , I'm not a meteorologist but I am
curious as to where our normal weather has gone.

It seems to have gone up into the Arctic according to this site:
http://www.wetterzentrale.de/topkarten/tkfaxbraar.htm

The Baltic has been very hot this summer because of that. (Unless it's
an exceptional amount of pollution causing it.)
