Melting Arctic Ice
Robert Grumbine's NOAA sea ice site has not been updated over the last few
days while, AFAIK, the hardware is being serviced. As a result, my web pages where you can compare the current Arctic ice with that over the last five years has not been working properly. I have made a temporary fix, so that if you select any day this year you will get the current map from FNMOC (US Navy). To see this go to http://www.abmcdonald.freeserve.co.uk/north.htm . My other similar page at http://www.abbemac.fsnet.co.uk/north.htm has not been changed. At present the ice seems to be about similiar to that last year which was a record. The maximum melt happens during the first weeks of September so we will soon know if this year will be another record. HTH, Cheers, Alastair. |
