Just a quick note to say that it will take a few days (probably the
weekend) before I can update the past two weeks archives to my Worldwide
Data. You will also notice that some of the data is not complete as I
have not been able to 'monitor' any dropouts of data over this period.
This will be the same for my own Southend Data (C.O.L. etc).

As all this is done pretty much manually it can be quite an undertaking.

........ and those funny numbers you may have noticed appearing in the 6th

column while you were sunning yourself in Alicante are genuine - a rare S.E.
Essex phenomenon called rainfall ;-)

Thanks, Keith. I use it quite often as a quick reference.

The degradation of climat. data in so many of the national
networks, especially in Europe, is very disappointing. The
shortage of regular, reliable, rainfall data in Sweden is the
latest example I've noted.

Thanks Philip.

I know a number of people regularly visit my site and it's the main
reason I keep on doing it.

I hadn't noticed the Swedish problem, just can't keep my eye on
everything, but what I find most frustrating is that a number of
locations that we used to get regularly I can only assume have been
placed into the 'non-essential' category, as they just don't appear
anymore yet I know they still report. e.g.

06240 Amsterdam (and others)
08391 Seville
11520 Prague (and others)

Even more annoyingly is a string of Italian ones that I have kept a
meticulous record of seem to deliberately come and go like the wind, yet
all the other are there.

16090 Venice
16170 Florence
16242 Rome
16289 Naples
16405 Palermo
16560 Caliari

Yes, all Europe!

Maybe I'm just getting paranoid, but I sometimes wonder if I didn't
upload to my website whether these games would stop, yet I can't believe
little old me would create so much fuss around Europe? I have had
e-mails with many 'synop' providing webmasters, so I'm sure they all
know who I am and that I just do it for love. However, when the new
coding starts to roll out GRIP/BUFR, that'll be the end of the line for
me as I am not a softy :-( I think this was due to start next year, I
just hope the date keeps moving to the right.

We're not that far from your French neck of the woods ('Milhaguet') bank
holiday week in the 'Dordogne' staying with some friends at a place near
to 'Servanches', NW of 'Bergerac', I'm hoping for some fine weather or
some of those wonderful thunderstorms they often get in that region.
